Greetings Sisters, Brothers, and Friends,

Our Special Needs Project website specialneedsproject.ca is over 27 years old and it is time to renew its look and functioning.

We will be working with our partner, Therefore Interactive to take on this important project. Just this past week Therefore Interactive conducted interviews of special needs advisors and staff to find out what would make the site more visually pleasing and user friendly.

Some of the key takeaways included…

  • User-friendly design: Simplify navigation and ensure accessibility for all ages, combining functionality and visual appeal.
  • Efficient content management: Enable easy content up-dates by staff, and present information with a mix of succinct text and visuals.
  • Enhance search functionality: Improve the search feature for accurate, user-friendly results.
  • Demographic inclusivity: Design the site to balance modern design with easy usability and pass for accessible metrics.
  • Content differentiation: Create separate sections for publications, news, and resources, focusing on clarity and educational value.
  • Clean up site map: organize pages and posts and understand what is out of date and no longer useful.

When the website build is done, and we are ready to launch we will let you know and hope you can take a minute to have a look at it!

We look forward to your feedback!

In Solidarity,

Coleen Jones
