Changes to the admail sizes and payments will not be effective until January 15, 2018. It is important to clearly understand why we negotiated changes to Admail and what these changes mean. The purpose of this bulletin is not to provide technical information, but to simply explain the reasons and what this represents for letter carriers.

RSMC Unit: NEB Minority Report

When Canada Post first presented its proposals to us in January, there was nothing but rollback after rollback and attacks on our pension plan. In the 8 months that followed, we pushed back hard and said that we would not accept rollbacks. We pushed for Canada Post to negotiate based on our demands. In the end, we have two tentative collective agreements without rollbacks and we protected our defined benefit pension plan for all current and future members of the plan.

Support Postal Banking - Download and Sign the Petition

Canada needs a postal bank. Thousands of rural towns and villages in our country do not have a bank, but many of them have a post office that could provide financial services. As well, nearly two million Canadians desperately need an alternative to payday lenders. A postal bank could be that alternative. Dear Mr, Lukiwski: I am writing further to my July 29, 2016 letter to raise an additional concern about the Standing Committee’s consultations on Canada Post. As part of its consultations, the Committee is conducting an online survey that is largely based on options outlined in the discussion paper produced by the Canada Post Review Task Force. CUPW believes the Task Force’s discussion paper is very flawed and is disappointed that the Committee’s survey, like the paper, focuses on cuts and rate hikes.

The federal government is conducting a review of Canada Post. It says everything but postal privatization is on the table.

Tuesday October 4 2016
Dear Minister Foote: I am writing further to my July 29, 2016 letter to request a response and raise additional concerns about the Canada Post Review. As you may recall, you promised that all options, other than privatization, would be considered during your review of our public post office. Unfortunately, this is not happening.

A factsheet on the elements of high quality child care. It's a fact. Research shows that high quality child care plays a positive and long-lasting role in the social and intellectual development of children, no matter what their social, cultural and economic background. Lack of access to high quality child care can cause high stress for working parents: worry about their children's well being while at work, and conflicts with employers and co-workers due to lateness or absences. Lack of high quality child care also keeps women from entering and participating fully in the paid labour force.

Research is an important part of what the CUPW Child Care Fund does. It helps us to better understand issues related to child care and how they affect our members, so we can develop information, tools and resources to better support members with their child care needs.
