    The attack on Urban workers is directly related to the inequities that RSMC members face. The only way to stop these attacks is to achieve full equity for RSMCs. CPC’s initial position was to attack the following Urban benefits and working conditions. All of these are benefits that the RSMCs do not have:

    Today we presented CPC with our Global Offers for both the urban and RSMC collective agreements. As a result, we will not be servicing our 72-hour notice. Therefore, there will be no industrial action prior to July 6th.

    Today we received the first global offers from Canada Post Corporation for the Urban and RSMC units.

    On June 14th, the Union received letters from Canada Post stating that as of July 2nd, RSMC and Urban members will no longer be covered by our benefit plans. It is extremely important that you read this bulletin and follow the suggestions we have made.

    Many members or their dependants are on prescription drugs that are commonly referred to as maintenance drugs or long-term medications. Maintenance or long-term medications are those drugs you may take on a regular basis to treat conditions such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes.

    Support Postal Banking - Download and Sign the Petition

    Canada needs a postal bank. Thousands of rural towns and villages in our country do not have a bank, but many of them have a post office that could provide financial services. As well, nearly two million Canadians desperately need an alternative to payday lenders. A postal bank could be that alternative. Download and sign the petition urging the Government of Canada to instruct Canada Post to add postal banking, with a mandate for financial inclusion.

    The Federal mediators advised us that Canada Post has cancelled today’s (August 25) planned meeting. The Corporation says it needs more time to review our latest global offers. We are expecting to receive more questions from Canada Post about our offers through the Federal mediators.

    Yesterday, August 20, CUPW’s Negotiating Committees returned to the bargaining table to present comprehensive global offers for both the RSMC and Urban bargaining units. While we had planned to meet again tomorrow, Canada Post has told us today that it needs more time to review our offers.
