CUPW negotiators are working hard to bargain a first collective agreement for members working for Maintair Aviation Services out of the Thunder Bay International Airport. These workers joined CUPW in November 2023 and perform duties in ground handling services, including baggage handling, ramp coordination, and the grooming and cleaning of planes.
The Union and the employer have already agreed to and signed 12 articles including but not limited to grievance and arbitration procedures, health and safety training, seniority, discipline, and the Union’s right to access to the work site.
Bargaining will continue April 8 to 11 and April 29 to May 2, where we will discuss wages, vacation, statutory days, leaves of absence, benefits, uniforms, and improvements to equipment. We will also be discussing probationary periods for new workers.
We’d like to thank the negotiators for their efforts in bargaining a fair collective agreement that meets the needs of workers, and the members for their ongoing support throughout the bargaining process.
We will keep you informed on the status of these negotiations.
In Solidarity,
