Last year on Earth Day, we celebrated 50 years of fighting for a better world. This year the theme is Restore our Earth. To restore our earth we will have to establish new ways of fighting for the future of humanity and the Earth we all share.
Earth Day online celebrations begin on April 20, with a global Youth Climate Summit, followed by a Global education summit on the 21, and the Earth Day Live digital show on the 22.
We encourage members to learn more and take part in all the events at https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-2021/ – which is available in ten languages, including English and French.
The first day's youth summit will have panels, speeches, discussions, and special messages with youth climate activists including Greta Thunberg. In the evening of April 20, the “We Shall Breathe” virtual summit will examine climate and environmental justice though a racial justice framework.
Day two is the “Teach for the Planet: Global Education Summit,” focused on the role educators play in combating climate change and why we need transformative climate education now.
Day three is the second Earth Day Live digital event, beginning at noon Eastern Time. The event includes workshops, panel discussions and special performances.
