The draft versions of both tentative agreements have been completed and are at the printers. These will be distributed to the membership as soon as possible. This is a big job and will take several weeks, but you will get them. The National Executive Board (NEB) meets next week and will finalize the dates for the ratification votes. We will continue to provide more detailed information about the agreements throughout this time.

Support Postal Banking - Download and Sign the Petition

Canada needs a postal bank. Thousands of rural towns and villages in our country do not have a bank, but many of them have a post office that could provide financial services. As well, nearly two million Canadians desperately need an alternative to payday lenders. A postal bank could be that alternative. Download and sign the petition urging the Government of Canada to instruct Canada Post to add postal banking, with a mandate for financial inclusion.

The Union and Canada Post have agreed to a process to undertake a pay equity review with regard to the Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers (RSMC). This process is outlined in a memorandum of understanding that the parties have signed today.

While we have reached tentative agreements for both the urban and RSMC bargaining units, these are short-term collective agreements and we will be back at the bargaining table next year. Many of our issues remain unresolved. One year from now, we will be heading back to the bargaining table to finish the job. There is much work to be done.
