Canada Post announced that the Corporation and its financial partner, TD Bank, have “decided to pause the MyMoney Loan application indefinitely.”
The announcement is extremely troubling, and the past several months have been frustrating, with the temporary pause and now a decommissioned loan product.
More evidence has been found that supports the need for Canada Post to offer a Senior Check-in service. CUPW has been calling for such a program since 2016. Recently the National Institute on Ageing released a report that backs that up.
September 23 marks the Global Climate Strike. CUPW endorses the strike organizers’ demand that policymakers and world leaders prioritize #PeopleNotProfit!
CPC commits to net zero emissions by 2050; work of the Union helped pushed to act now - Canada Post is finally addressing climate change and the role it must play in saving our planet. The history between the Conservatives and Canadian labour unions is far from being a fairy tale. Cuts, back-to-work legislations, closures, privatizations; the Conservatives’ multiple attacks to destroy our working conditions while in power should be of great concern to Canadian workers should Mr. O’Toole win the election on Monday.
Recently, Canada Post has spoken out about the importance and potential benefits of expanding its financial services to the public and small businesses. CUPW welcomes this new direction because we know that service expansion is needed to maintain good jobs, and to promote increased financial inclusion and better access to services.
