    CUPW is pleased to welcome employees of Maintair Aviation Services Ltd. working at Thunder Bay International Airport in ground handling services, including baggage handling, ramp coordination, and the grooming and cleaning of planes to our Union!

    CUPW is pleased to welcome Ebus drivers in Kamloops and Vancouver to our Union! Many of these new members are former Greyhound bus drivers who found work with Ebus after Greyhound left Western Canada in 2018. These workers are being paid the same rate as they were in 2016, when they were represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union. The skyrocketing cost of living in BC has made it difficult for workers to make ends meet.

    CUPW is currently seeking worker organizers in each region to assist with CUPW external organizing campaigns. The position will begin September 2023 and will be up for renewal every six months pending the direction of the campaign.

    CUPW is currently seeking CUPW members to assist with public facing campaigns and serve as Community Organizers (CO). Applications must be submitted no later than July 7th, 2023.

    CUPW is currently seeking a CUPW worker organizer in the Ontario Region to assist with CUPW external organizing campaigns. The position will begin July 2023 and will be up for renewal every six months pending the direction of the campaign. The successful candidate will be tasked with collaborating with the 3rd National Vice-President, Ontario Regional office, and the Locals involved in the campaign.

    The Amazon Labor Union (ALU), the independent union of Amazon workers who won a union election at the JFK8 facility in Staten Island, New York in the Spring of 2022, have had their election victory upheld by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the highest labour tribunal in the United States.

    Support Postal Banking - Download and Sign the Petition

    Canada needs a postal bank. Thousands of rural towns and villages in our country do not have a bank, but many of them have a post office that could provide financial services. As well, nearly two million Canadians desperately need an alternative to payday lenders. A postal bank could be that alternative. Download and sign the petition urging the Government of Canada to instruct Canada Post to add postal banking, with a mandate for financial inclusion.

    Over a month ago, postal workers soundly rejected Canada Post’s offers in a government-forced vote. The Corporation’s plan to bypass the Union and impose rollbacks on us failed. With the Corporation’s offers rejected by the membership, the only way to settle this dispute is at the bargaining table and the Employer changing its positions.

    The Federal mediators advised us that Canada Post has cancelled today’s (August 25) planned meeting. The Corporation says it needs more time to review our latest global offers. We are expecting to receive more questions from Canada Post about our offers through the Federal mediators.

    Yesterday, August 20, CUPW’s Negotiating Committees returned to the bargaining table to present comprehensive global offers for both the RSMC and Urban bargaining units. While we had planned to meet again tomorrow, Canada Post has told us today that it needs more time to review our offers.

    CUPW launched its postal banking campaign with a giant inflatable piggy bank in downtown Ottawa.
