Jan Simpson, CUPW National President / Présidente nationale, Syndicat des travailleurs et travailleuses des postesTo all CUPW members,

Thank you for showing up, for standing together, and for participating in the government forced vote. Regardless of how you voted, your participation was an act of solidarity and strength. And for those who voted to reject the final offers, your decision sent a powerful message: “We know our worth, and we deserve better”.

At CUPW, our goal has always been to negotiate strong, fair, and ratifiable  offers that respect the value of our work, improve our working conditions, and bring real improvements, not temporary gains or half measure and contracts that members can stand behind, because they reflect real negotiation, not pressure, interference, or manipulation.

This moment is bigger than just a vote. It is about protecting the principle of free and fair collective bargaining. It's about ensuring workers, not governments or employers, decide what’s acceptable. And it’s about telling those in power that workers cannot be bought, intimidated, or sidelined.

The Government’s repeated interference has only emboldened the employer to avoid real negotiations. This is not just an attack on CUPW, it’s an erosion of collective bargaining rights across this country.

To the public: we want agreements that bring stability to the postal system, security to the workers who do the work, and room to grow and improve the business. But we can’t build a better Canada Post if we’re being pushed aside at the bargaining table.

This vote was not the end, it was a declaration: we deserve better, and we will continue to fight for what’s fair.

In solidarity,

Jan Simpson
National President
