CUPW is currently seeking eight members to assist with the 'Building Worker Power' campaign as a Regional Organizer (RO).

Starting September 2022, anyone appointed as a RO will be tasked with collaborating with the 3rd National Vice-President, their Regional office, and the Locals within their region, to travel between locals to help empower our work-floors, revitalize our membership, and help our union regain its fighting spirit!

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to locals, regions and work-floors to help build an organizing network.
  • Help train activists on how to conduct work-floor actions to build worker power.
  • Organize members to conduct structure tests in the workplace.
  • Attend meetings with the
3rd National VP, locals, regions, and other ROs and officers as required.
  • Write reports about work completed, collect analytics about the progress of the campaign and interact with various database and other campaign digital tools.
  • Talk with workers about bargaining issues and train others to do the same.
  • The successful candidate is expected to travel frequently and be in compliance with travel restrictions as determined by health authorities.
  • Prepare own work schedule on a monthly basis.
  • Other relevant duties as required.
  • Must be available to begin September 2022. Depending on scheduling, the work could be
full-time for the next six months,
at which time the position will be reviewed and possibly extended.
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter who can work well on their own and with others.
  • Ability to work irregular hours and away from home for extended periods of time (there will be meetings after regular work hours, shop floor and work location visits).
  • A driver’s license and the ability to drive is considered an asset where other transit is not an option.
  • Good speaking, writing, computer, and organizational skills.
