Bar charts

Bar charts are calculated from September 1 to August 31 annually. Because of the strike, which took place from November 15 to December 13, 2024, there were only nine working days each in November and December. In this case, we concluded an agreement with Canada Post, similar to the one reached in 2018, to exclude those 22 days from the bar charts calculations. No absence will be taken into account in the calculations for this period. In addition, the number of days worked shall be decreased from 20 to nine for the months of November and December to make calculations correct.

Mail volume index

According to chapter 2 of the Letter Carrier Route Measurement System (LCRMS), when an abnormal situation such as a work stoppage occurs, the data from the corresponding period of the previous year should be used. Consequently, the parties agreed to replace the data from weeks 46, 47 and 48 of 2024 with the data from the corresponding weeks in 2023 to calculate the mail volume index and the personal contact items index. These weeks correspond to the strike weeks in November. December is not included in the mail volume index.
