The RSMC hourly rate committee started its work in May of 2022. The mandate of the committee is to transition the RSMCs to an hourly rate of pay, contingent on an updated approach to measuring workload and work content.

The proposed measurement system includes an automated volume count. To ensure the reported data and assumptions are accurate, the hourly rate committee will conduct a validation exercise to test the process.

When determining which sites to visit, the committee ensured the criteria below were met:

•          Offices from all 8 regions;

•          Mail from all major processing plants;

•          Rural offices/Suburban offices;

•          Knowledge sort/Civic sort routes;

•          Sequenced routes/Non-sequenced routes.

This validation exercise will help identify possible problems with this type of volume count.

The regions and locals of the selected offices will be notified once the locations and dates are finalized.

The hourly rate committee will be travelling to the selected offices when the preparation stage is completed.

This is an important step in our work. The success of this validation exercise requires co-operation from the members who do the work. Thank you for your anticipated support.
