Children and care givers sit on a carpet and read a book for story time.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has played an active part in the broader child care movement for decades. We do this because we know that access to good quality public and non-profit child care gives our members and other parents across this country, the ability to work to pursue educational opportunities and to build better lives for their families.

We know a truly affordable and accessible system of child care can provide all parents with peace of mind – and children with rich, safe experiences that build the foundation for life-long learning.

CUPW has worked closely with our allies in championing this vision and will continue to do so until we have convinced our federal, provincial and territorial governments to work together to ensure that child care will be universal, affordable, inclusive and high quality.

In the words of one of our key allies, the Child Care Advocacy Association of Canada, high quality child care must be:

- In every community, in every province and territory,
for every family that needs it.
