High quality. Flexible. Affordable. That's the kind of child care most UPCE-PSAC and CUPW members say they need – but can't find.
Postal workers in Winnipeg Manitoba can access the child care they need and deserve, thanks to an innovative child care project.
Knox Day Nursery Inc. is a non-profit child care facility accommodating 76 children ages 3 months to 6 years of age.
At Knox they believe that children have the right to be valued, accepted and included; and embrace inclusion and celebrate diversity such as culture, language, religion, socio-economic status and ability.
That means having peace of mind while you're at work. And that means a lot.
All children bring gifts and have the right to be valued, accepted and included. All children are entitled to full participation and support to meet their individual needs, using a strength based, families centered approach where we all learn from each other.
At Knox, staff work to provide children with an environment that will encourage and promote:
• a positive self-concept
• growth with independence
• develop creativity and a sense of wonder and excitement
• gain awareness of cultural differences
develop respect for their physical and social environment
• express emotions in a socially acceptable way
Children who are cared for by qualified Early Childhood Educators have beneficial experiences while they are away from their parents or guardians. Our team strives to ensure your child receives this daily.
Knox Day Nursery offers centre-based child care for children ages 3 months to 6 years and is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm.
Knox provides postal workers access to the following programs:
• Preschool program, 2 years to 6 years
• Infant program, 3 months to 2 years

High quality child care is expensive. The Child Care fund subsidizes the cost for services provided by Knox Day Nursery that are available to postal workers families.
Subsidies are 40% of the parent fee charged members with one child and 45% for members with two or more children attending the centre. (Note the subsidy is taxable).
