CUPW negotiators are working hard to bargain a first collective agreement for members working for Maintair Aviation Services out of the Thunder Bay International Airport. These workers joined CUPW in November 2023 and perform duties in ground handling services, including baggage handling, ramp coordination, and the grooming and cleaning of planes.
Ebus drivers from Kamloops and Vancouver, who recently joined CUPW, will soon be voting on their first collective agreement. The bargaining committee recently reached a tentative four-year agreement with the employer which provides significant wage increases back dated to when Union certification took place, October 3, 2023.

Canada needs a postal bank. Thousands of rural towns and villages in our country do not have a bank, but many of them have a post office that could provide financial services. As well, nearly two million Canadians desperately need an alternative to payday lenders. A postal bank could be that alternative. Download and sign the petition urging the Government of Canada to instruct Canada Post to add postal banking, with a mandate for financial inclusion.

The National Executive Board approved a delegation up to 10 members, including full-time Union Representatives and grassroots members, to participate in May Day activities in Havana, Cuba, from April 27 to May 4. The members of the delegation will be chosen by the NEB from among the candidates who have submitted an application.
In their initial presentations, Canada Post has proposed major changes to Group 2 staffing rules, overtime, and work patterns. According to the Corporation’s presentations, one goal of these changes is to introduce “Dynamic Routing.” Dynamic Routing uses software to adjust delivery routes depending on mail volumes, distances, and workloads.
