Pagans and witches celebrate the Winter Solstice or Yule as a way to honour the natural cycles of our planetary home. It is a time to be grateful for the good things we have, to recommit to the work that is needed ahead, to meditate on our humanity and compassion, to give.
All over the world, different cultures celebrate Solstice. This year, it takes place on Thursday, December 21st.
Family and Child Care Connections (FCCC) is expanding licensed home child care across the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Families across Canada are crying out for access to early learning and child care.
The federal government’s historic child care initiative has brought down parent fees for licensed child care for children under 6. However, there are only enough licensed spaces for a fraction of those who need it. Vulnerable families and children are much more likely to fall through the large gap between supply and demand.
On Wednesday November 15, CUPW and Canada Post officially opened the 2023-24 round of bargaining for our next collective agreement.
The two sides’ negotiating committees met to exchange their respective slates of demands and to outline their priorities for the coming round.
In addition to presenting its demands, Canada Post gave the Union an overview of the Corporation’s financial position and its business strategy.

Support Postal Banking - Download and Sign the Petition
Canada needs a postal bank. Thousands of rural towns and villages in our country do not have a bank, but many of them have a post office that could provide financial services. As well, nearly two million Canadians desperately need an alternative to payday lenders. A postal bank could be that alternative. Download and sign the petition urging the Government of Canada to instruct Canada Post to add postal banking, with a mandate for financial inclusion.

CUPW is pleased to welcome Ebus drivers in Kamloops and Vancouver to our Union!
Many of these new members are former Greyhound bus drivers who found work with Ebus after Greyhound left Western Canada in 2018. These workers are being paid the same rate as they were in 2016, when they were represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union. The skyrocketing cost of living in BC has made it difficult for workers to make ends meet.
